The Brief

Appointed as a land strategist to support the Council in engaging with the landowners and exploring development possibilities for the Burns Road Industrial Estate.

The Challenges
  • Engaging with the landowners, informing and educating them about the issues affecting the estate.

  • Facilitating discussions to establish a formal landowner’s group.

  • Establishing and formalising an Incorporated landowners’ group.

  • Biodiversity assessment.

  • Targeted surveys.

  • Proactively exploring and pursuing future development options.

  • Providing recommendations to assist in the progression of a framework for future development options.

  • Providing a reverse brief and budget for a Development Plan process.

The Outcomes

The Burns Road Landowners Group was officially formalised as an Incorporated Association with a membership of approximately fifty (50) percent of the landowner base. Both a biodiversity assessment and targeted surveys were completed providing a pathway to achieving Council endorsement and the securing of funds to undertake a recommended Development Plan process for the Estate.
