The Brief

Provide an innovative design which includes the recycling of existing materials to ensure the project compliments the traditional neighbourhood character and respects the design of the original subdivision and the amenity of the neighbouring properties.

The Challenges
  • Existing vegetation protection overlay.

  • Creating a sustainable design which provided the owners with a sustainable lifestyle by means of a reduction in ongoing building maintenance and running costs.

  • Demonstrating a simple and affordable build through the retrofitting of existing materials.

The Outcome

The final build resulted in the delivery of a house which reflects an integrated relationship between architecture, landscape, urban design, and sustainability. The project was the winner of the Sustainable Design & Development Project Award – City of Whitehorse 2013 Built Environment Awards.
