The City of Geelong and the surrounding Bellarine and SurfCoast Regions have been capturing the attention of the nation’s media for the following multiple reasons.
Significant corporate announcements by Shell, Ford and Target;
Regional job losses as the region transitions from a reliance on heavy manufacturing;
Federal Government Announcement as the nations Headquarters for the National Disability Insurance Agency; and finally,
Last weekend’s Federal Election and the seat of Corrangamite, the most marginal Federal seat in Australia.
However, for the staff at GCA, Geelong has been capturing our attention for another particular reason. We have recently completed a significant project for the G21 Geelong Region Alliance, which forms part of the G21 Regional Growth Plan. GCA in collaboration with urban planning consultants, Urban Enterprise, was engaged in late 2012 to undertake the Urban Regeneration and Identified Growth Area Land Release Incentives Project.
The outcome of this project created the Strategic Housing Incentives Action Plan which acts as one of the supporting documents for the recently released G21 Regional Growth Plan (Growth Plan) - draft Implementation Plan - released for public comment on 1 July 2013
